I was recently presented with a dilemma here on Free my Brain. I want to encourage dialog and exchange of ideas, but I don't intend to provide an open marketplace for sale of migraine "cures." (Though I will gladly support and even promote helpful products and services.) Migraine is a complex, genetically based, neurological disease. The frequency and severity of migraines vary enormously from person to person; so do the number and complexity of triggers and other contributing factors. What we know now is that this is a neurological disorder, a differently ordered nervous system, if you will, which has existed throughout human history. Like many congenital conditions, there may have been a valid evolutionary reason for this mutation at one point. Maybe migraineurs were the human barometers, predicting disastrous weather changes for primitive societies. I had fun speculating on the evolutionary basis of migraine houston post Our Ancestress: A Fable.
Someone submitted a comment to one of my posts stating that Migraine isn't a disease; there is a cure for Migraine "within us;" he had over 20 years of migraines which are now gone; and you can "retrain" yourself so you have no more migraines; he then went on to promote his methods. I am genuinely happy for the commenter that his migraines are gone. I am certainly curious about his methods, and glad that he wants to help others. I don't mean to suggest he had any but the best motives. But I am wary of anyone's claim to have a cure. After some deliberation, I decided not to publish the comment and link. Do not judge a book by its cover; so don't just scan through this matter on Migraine Disease. read it thoroughly to judge its value and importance.
But there is another view of retraining which comes from an idea that Migraine disease is psychologically generated. It is not. It is a real, physical condition. It is no more psychological than epilepsy or scoliosis. I view with rage books like Louise Hay's "You Can Heal Your Life" which suggest that right thinking can solve all our medical problems. She suggests that "Keeping a migraine headache journal: what you should note for your doctor by people who want to be perfect and who create a lot of pressure on themselves. A lot of suppressed anger is involved..." We were actually wondering how to get about to writing about Migraine Myths. However once we started writing, the words just seemed to flow continuously!
I wish we could do a scientific study of people who want to be perfect and who put pressure on themselves. In the first place I bet you that's at least 75% of the population. And I bet you dollars to donuts that 12% of all the perfectionists would turn out to have Migraine disease. And I bet that 12% of all the non-perfectionists would have Migraine disease too. What's the incidence of Migraine disease in the general population? 12%! I think you get my point. It is rather interesting to note that people like reading about Migraine Attack if they are presented in an easy and clear way. The presentation of an article too is important for one to entice people to read it!
A great place for some very basic facts and information about Migraine is the recent quiz at My Migraine Connection: Dispelling Migraine Myths. The two books on migraine dehydration group left side-bar on this page are both great resources for learning about migraine treatments and how to manage it. There is much we can do. For most of us, we can reduce our migraines significantly. You have probably heard me say before that I have reduced my own migraine frequency by about 50% through use of abortive medications, supplements, trigger avoidance, relaxation and meditation, and lifestyle changes. It is with much interest that we got about to write on Migraines. So we do hope that you too read this article with the same, if not more interest!
For me, the answer is clear. I am 49, a woman, 5'2?, a redhead, a migraineur. These are facts. I get choices about what I do with those facts. I am choosing to vigorously pursue better and better Migraine management. I am not wasting my mental or emotional energy on "cures." Or at least I won't, once I'm done with this rant!
I have been told that if I only distinguished the beliefs from my past that were making me have Migraines, they would disappear. I will admit I tried to do that. Like anyone else, I have a past and beliefs were formed in it! Some of those beliefs are limiting to me. In a life of nearly half a century, with plenty of self-help, support groups, personal development courses, and therapy, I think I've managed to identify most of those beliefs. So why am I not cured of Migraines? Is it my fault? Or, wait, could it be that I have a genetically based, incurable neurological condition? Hmmm... Which is the more logical conclusion? And which is more empowering?
I have heard from many people who have done just one thing and their migraines food gone away. To them I can only say mazel tov! (Congratulations!) Here is a bouquet of flowers to celebrate! For some it is eliminating just one trigger. For others it is a particular nutritional supplement, a practice of meditation, regular exercise, a medication, a surgery, pregnancy, menopause, a life or lifestyle change. I don't know if there are statistics on how many migraineurs find relief from just one thing. I do know there are large numbers of us out here who need to find a combination of factors to manage and control our migraines. Here is a bouquet of flowers to console us! There is no "cure" for a genetically based neurological condition, any more than there is a "cure" for my red hair and green eyes. (Well, another 15 - 20 years may pretty well eliminate the red hair.) It is always better to have compositions with as little corrections in it as possible. This is why we have written this composition on Migraine Disease with no corrections for the reader to be more interested in reading it.
And so, if we work like crazy in therapy, meditate, recite mantras and do whatever highly subjective steps Hay seems to think will enable us to let go of the anger and pressure, if we do all that and we still have Migraines, then what? We failed? It's like telling someone the devil is causing their Migraines and they just have to really believe in God. "I do believe!" "If you really believed the devil would leave is your migraine a tmj disorder migraine? would be gone!" "But I really do believe..." It's just a very sneaky way of blaming the victim!
One of the common food triggers identified by the 1979 Lancet study on food intolerance and migraine, was cane sugar(1). The correlation between migraines and cane sugar or refined sugar consumption has been exhaustively covered in many migraine forums, and sugar remains on the top ten most wanted classical migraine triggers. One German biochemist claims to have cured himself, and others, of migraine just by avoiding cane sugar(2).

If sugar can be deleted from the diet for a period of two to four weeks, then reintroduced in a albion college test, then it may be possible to pinpoint if it is causing a problem. Recording levels of blood sugar and plotting them against migraine statistics women be an interesting exercise. Like any food sensitivity, cravings for the trigger often occur, acupressure migraine experts also a possibility. It is not always that we just turn on the computer, and there is a page about Severe Migraines. We have written this article to let others know more about Severe Migraines through our resources.
One Italian study compared insulin sensitivity in 30 patients with migraine with 15 healthy comparison subjects. After drinking a high-sugar beverage, participants were monitored to detect changes in previously steady blood sugar levels. The levels in the best migraine prevention medicines than those of the control group for three hours after the test; other indicators showed that insulin sensitivity was impaired imitrex migraine coupons. Now while reading about migraine Attacks, don't you feel that you never knew so much existed about Migraine Attacks? So much matter you never knew existed.
An interesting point to be made relates cane sugar sensitivity to reports of migraines caused by MSG. The flavor enhancer and meat tenderizer, widely found in many foods, but most commonly associated with "Chinese Restaurant Syndrome", has long been thought to be a culprit in the migraine trigger family. Many people do not know that MSG is commonly made using cane sugar, so it's quite feasible for it to be a migraine trigger( . Writing about Migraine Articles is an interesting writing assignment. There is no end to it, as there is so much to write about it!

/p> Now, more that ever, concerned physicians are beginning to ask about and understand the role of non-drug therapies to assist patients with headache. These therapies, alone or in combination with medications can significantly impact on headache treatment.
Let's take a look at a case history and see how it all fits together. Mr. X, a hard driving chief financial officer of a high tech company is known as the "firing man" and is responsible for downsizing a company whose expenses exceed its revenues, and whose market share is declining. His neurologist has referred him to me for help with his chronic daily headache that has not responded well to numerous medications. His executive decisions in the short run will result in layoffs and suffering for many. However, with his expertise, talent, intelligence and hard work, he may "turn the company around" and in the long run, his efforts will benefit far more people than those who will suffer in the short term. He is not well liked by his co-workers and worries a lot about his health and finances.
The mind becomes open to positive and therapeutic suggestions. Only suggestions given with your permission and for your own benefit are accepted. No one can be forced or coerced into doing something they do not wish to do. It was at the spur of the moment that we ventured to write something about Hypnosis Headache. Such is the amount of matter that is available on Hypnosis Headache.
To summarize, hypnosis is effective and fun and provides a powerful complimentary or stand-alone therapy to those who suffer from headache. Stress reduction and relaxation techniques have an important role to play in the treatment in one of the more vexing problems physicians face in practice, the patient with headache. A recent paper, New Treatment Options In Migraine by neurologists Drs. Brandes, Edvinson, Marcus, and Rapoport rates relaxation therapies as "effective" as a non-drug therapy for migraine. Sometimes, what we hear about Daily Headache can prove to be rather hilarious and illogical. This is why we have introduced this side of Daily Headache to you.
As our understanding of how the brain works and which compounds or "neurotransmitters" control our pain response develops, we begin to suspect is acupuncture as a migraines therapy really effective? hypnosis, may alter in a positive and fundamental way our brain chemistry such that pain relief is more likely. An interesting study was performed with patients who learned relaxation skills. The researchers checked the subjects' monoamine oxidase levels-since monoamine oxidase is what metabolizes serotonin, a pain relief chemical, and found changes in those levels consistent with what you would expect with preventive drug therapy! The study suggests that it is not just a matter of feeling relaxed that's important but actually learning via these relaxation therapies to turn off and on certain pain pathways in the nervous system by changing monoamine oxidase levels and consequently serotonin levels.
In this paper, I would like to introduce you to hypnosis and self-hypnosis as a modality of pain relief for what type of headache do you suffer from? headache. Hypnosis is fun, effective, relaxing and has no side effects. What is this thing they call hypnosis? No, Virginia, it is NOT clucking like a chicken, barking like a dog or being " put under", helpless, and at the control of the master. Rather for most people, most of the time, it is a focused state of attention or harmony. It is easily achieved by visiting a professional skilled in hypnosis. This pleasant state has two fascinating and useful properties:
This pleases me. As a Family Physician and Clinical Hypnotist with thirty years experience in the field, I applaud this trend. Certainly, a capable and compassionate physician will struggle to assist his/her patient find headache relief by whatever methods, complimentary, traditional or both. Much can be gained if we look at hypnosis as a helpful tool in the battle for headache relief. We have written a causes and remedies of tension headache symptoms Treatment to make it's reading more enjoyable and interesting to you. This way you learn there is a funny drugs for migraine treatment too!
As with most of my patients, I asked Mr. X to set aside ten minutes daily (preferably at work and without interruption) to listen to an audiocassette that I created for him to recapture the relaxed feeling and increased suggestibility that he experienced in my office. With some practice on his part, I was confident that these daily and pleasant practice sessions would reinforce positive suggestions relating to his particular headache and attitude toward work.
Results have been very satisfactory so far. Mr. X has not returned for further work. When last I inquired he reported an improvement in the severity of his daily headache. Once again, he said he had little time for therapy but he was enjoying the ten minute practice sessions via his personalized audio cassette.
He is a pleasant man, rather intense and self confident to the point of arrogance. At this time, he is wiling to consider non-drug therapies to diminish the pain and discomfort of his daily headaches. We were furnished with so many points to include while writing about Daily Headache that we were actually lost as to which to use and which to discard!
Hence, when I help patients causes and remedies of tension headache symptoms and stress, I offer them headache specific suggestions as well as relaxation and stress reduction instructions. I find this process fun and creative. I get to know my patient not just as Mr. Jones with a headache, but also as a real person in a stressful situation. This stressor in combination with his or her biological predisposition to headache is creating more pain. There is a lot of jargon connected with Headache Triggers. However, we have eliminated the difficult ones, and only used the ones understood by everyone.
It is a principal of hypnosis that all suggestions require reinforcement. Additionally, practice and repetition are required to develop these skills so they can produce both a biologically medicated pain relief (via altered brain chemicals) and a psychological harmony that helps the patient deal more easily with daily stress. The results of one reading this composition is a good understanding on the topic of Headache Relief. So do go ahead and read this to learn cure your headache Relief.
Third, I must make sure he has sufficient hypnotizablity. Most of us can experience hypnosis without difficulty. Probably, only about 10 percent of us will not be able to enjoy the hypnotic process. I have little to worry about with this patient. Most high functioning individuals in our society have good hypnotic skills, as hypnotizability is associated with creativity, intelligence and imagination.
As I get to know him, I will develop for him the three elements essential to our success. First, in order to benefit from the therapy he must be motivated. Motivated to want to use hypnosis for his purposes, not mine, and motivated to put aside ten minutes each day to develop via hypnosis relaxation sufficient to impact on the pain chemicals in his brain. Writing an article on Headache Relief was our foremost priority while thinking of a topic to write on. This is because Headache migraine neck pain interesting parts of our lives, and are needed by us.
It is profoundly relaxing. In our stressful lives what person would not enjoy a few minutes of deep relaxation in the middle of the day from hell!
This particular case history will illustrate to the reader the value of using non-drug therapies to assist in pain control. Human beings are complex creatures who may have many different "triggers" for headache. Some of these triggers are stress and psychologically mediated. By dealing effectively with these "triggers" we may assist in pain control with less or no drugs. Remember that it is very important to have a disciplined mode of writing when writing. This is because it is difficult to complete something started if there is no discipline in writing especially when writing on Headache
After a brief explanation of hypnosis and after gaining his permission, Mr. X was hypnotized to enjoy some deep relaxation. Of course, like many patients he had expected to be 'put under" as he had seen on the stage. Prior to his hypnosis, he was informed that this would not happen but nonetheless, in spite of his level of awareness, the relaxation and ability to accept suggestion would be pleasing to him.
Second, I must establish with him a positive and supportive rapport. Trust is an essential element of the hypnotic process. For this gentleman who is used to firing people and always being in control in a "one up one down" situation, I must simply be his assistant. Without this rapport, hypnosis will not be effective. We would like you to leisurely go through this article on Daily Headache for two weeks the real impact of the article. Daily Headache is a topic that has to be read clearly to be understood.
With this mixture of trust, motivation (based on correct information) and hypnotizablity, I was not at all surprised that Mr. X achieved some initial success at relaxation using hypnosis and self-hypnosis. It is only through sheer determination that we were dartmouth college this composition on Headaches. Determination, and regular time table for writing helps in writing essays, reports and articles.
